Volunteering

Every week, students, faculty, and staff leave campus to work alongside local farmers and learn what it takes to grow food.

Our volunteer sessions take us to partner farms across the region, where the work changes with the season. You might find yourself planting and harvesting at Hannan Healthy Foods or Eastie Farm, repairing irrigation systems, preparing beds, or gathering in the kitchen to make a meal from what we have just grown together. These sessions are about more than volunteering. They are opportunities to learn by doing, build relationships with local farmers, and better understand the food systems that sustain our communities. Whether you are an engineer, biologist, business student, architect, or administrator, there is a place for you in the work. Every session brings something different and a chance to step outside campus, build practical skills, meet collaborators from across MIT and beyond, and become part of a community that cares about where our food comes from.

Join us at an upcoming volunteer session through our Luma calendar below.
