MIT Farm is a community-driven initiative that brings together students, staff, and faculty to grow real food, build connections, and drive sustainable change on campus.

What we do?

MIT Farm connects the MIT community through hands-on learning, sustainable food initiatives, and advocacy for campus agriculture.

Volunteer & Learn:We host regular volunteer sessions at Hannan’s Healthy Foods, Eastie Farm, and the Boston Medical Center rooftop farm, where participants gain practical experience in urban farming.

Fresh Food Access:In collaboration with the MIT Office of Sustainability and MIT Anthropology, we run the Fresh Food Bag program to provide students with affordable, locally grown produce.

Campus Advocacy:Through pilot projects like FarmCart, we create spaces for the MIT community to gather, share ideas, and work toward establishing a permanent farm on campus.

Our Vision

We imagine an MIT where forgotten corners and empty rooftops come alive as growing spaces — places where students, faculty, staff, and local community grow food together, share stories, and learn from each other.

By linking these spaces with farms and food projects across Boston, we hope to make fresh produce a part of everyday campus life and turn the ground we walk on into a living laboratory for connection, hands in dirt learning and change.
